Profile
For 30 years, Christopher Spitzmiller has created one-of-a-kind lamps of a timeless appeal and luxurious quality.
CHRISTOPHER’S ICONIC CERAMIC LAMP DESIGNS draw inspiration from classical forms and traditional gemlike glazes. The lamps are of timeless appeal and luxurious quality with forms glazed in his signature bold, vibrant colors. Christopher began his career in 1996 in Washington, D.C. then moved to New York City in the fall of 1999 where he continues to create his one-of-a-kind lamps with a team of skilled artisans. In 2013 Christopher opened a second pottery studio in Millbrook, New York where he expanded his designs to include tableware and a host of other ceramic accessories.
Christopher’s work is often featured in celebrated publications such as Architectural Digest, Town & Country, Elle Décor, Veranda, House Beautiful, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He has had the honor of making lamps for five different White House Administrations, multiple US Embassies, Blair House, and countless other distinguished American homes.
When he is not working in his pottery studios, Christopher can be found with his husband Anthony Bellomo at their home, Clove Brook Farm, in Millbrook where he spends time tending his gardens, beekeeping, cooking for friends, and looking after his flocks of heritage breed chickens, turkeys, pigeons, and peacocks.
In 2021, Rizzoli published Christopher's bookA Year at Clove Brook Farm, which captures four seasons of life at the farm, includes favorite recipes, and showcases his unique approach to entertaining with style. More recently he has been developing a commercial cut-flower growing field on a property near his home where he can indulge his passion for favorite flowers such as peonies, sweet peas, and dahlias, all of which have influenced the decoration of his various tableware collections.
Christopher is honored to have the opportunity to give back to the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Garden Conservancy, and at Stone Crop Garden in Cold Spring, New York.
